About the Leather – Premium vegetable-tanned leather crafted by Tochigi Leather (Japan)

Pit-tanned leather that brings out the raw, honest beauty of the hide.

Pit tanning is a traditional method of tanning leather slowly and carefully using natural tannins derived from plants.

Hides are soaked in large tanks—or “pits”—filled with tannin-rich solution for several weeks to months, allowing the leather to be tanned thoroughly over time.

Though it takes time and effort, the result is durable leather with firm structure that ages beautifully with use.

In short, it’s the kind of leather you grow into—and that grows with you.

About leather products

The leather we use is natural leather. We do not use any scratches that could lead to tears or rips, but the original scratches and wrinkles in the leather are used as characteristics of the material. Also, even the same leather may have individual differences in color, thickness, and texture.

About canvas products

Please note that the painted parts may transfer color if rubbed or wet.

About products using brass

Since this product is made of solid brass, it will become tarnished over time. Please enjoy the changes that occur over time.
If you want to remove tarnish from brass parts, please use a silver cloth. In that case, please test it on an inconspicuous part first.
