HYAKKENZU Ito Jakuchu (1716-1800) "Hyakken-zu" (1799) Collection: Private collection. Ito Jakuchu was an artist active in Kyoto during the mid-Edo period. He left behind many miniature paintings, often featuring countless animals and plants, filling the entire canvas. "One Hundred Dogs" is a work painted just before Jakuchu's death, but the brushwork is so delicate it's hard to believe he was 80 years old, and each puppy's form is unique. Ownership: Private collection
